Kawartha Lakes contains numerous businesses that service the agricultural sector, many of which have been in business for considerable time. Included in these businesses are some very large corporations with either head offices or national head offices located in the area.

When asked why this was the case, the responses noted the 'attractiveness of the area as a place to live and work', and the 'well established nature of the agricultural industry'. Also cited as an important factor, was the 'acceptance of agriculture and agricultural practices as part of the environment'. (Agricultural Impact and Development Study, Planscape Inc. 2006)

"Thank you so much for initiating that extra tour with the owners of the farm. They took me back in the back fields with the gator and showed me the fencing they use for the perimeter fencing. It was truly an amazing experience. We mingled with the (livestock guardian) dogs and they explained in detail what and how they work at the farm.  It was very interesting to say the least. Thanks again."

"Many, many Thanks to everyone involved in the 'Be Our Guest' Fall Getaway 2011!  I am sending cards to Happy Houseboats and Log Chateau Park.
What an extraordinary beautiful area, lakes, towns.  Everyone we met were so very nice and helpful.  The towns were even decorated for this season, we were really impressed.  Toured the Fenelon Museum, was astounded by the history,1837 the home was built.  I would recommend everyone to visit this area!"

"Just wanted to tell you how much Steve and I enjoyed ourselves (as hosts) again at this year's Kawartha Farmfest.  My family loves to come from the big city of Montreal and help out!  Despite the cold (!) we loved having the guests here!  On Sunday, although rainy, we had 2 groups in who might be interested in hosting next year.  We're already thinking of new ideas for the 2012 event.  Thank you so much for all the hard work you and your team put in to this very worthwhile project!  Please pass on our congratulations to your staff for a job very well done."

"Thanks again to you and your team for the wonderful (VIP Agricultural) tour and day yesterday. Everything was perfect and it is clear a lot of effort and thought went into putting the tour together. It all paid off!
Thanks also to our hosts. I was impressed with their commitment to their farming and business activities.
Cheers," Jim Ayers

Mark Lowell of Log Chateau Park identifies steady growth over the last 3 years in the combined experience of ATVing and camping.  This year's season has been their busiest, with seasonal sites full with a waiting list, and overnight campers at full capacity the last weekend of the season.  Many bookings for next year are already in and the Park is now fully booked for August and Labour Day long weekends in 2011.
