Kawartha Lakes Cultural Roundtable

On March 7, 2017, City Council approved the creation of a new community-based "Cultural Roundtable" in Kawartha Lakes to generate ideas and projects that will enhance cultural development, cultural tourism, and the creative economy through partnerships between communities, businesses, and the municipality.

The Cultural Roundtable is a series of meetings that brings together interested members of the community to consider how to carry out strategies from the Kawartha Lakes Cultural and Heritage master plans. The topics for discussion will be advertised prior to each meeting and anyone with an interest, related knowledge or experience is welcome to attend. Project groups may form from these meetings to take on specific projects or tasks.

Cultural Roundtable meetings will be held every other month, beginning in May, and will be advertised with a specific topic for discussion at each meeting. All interested persons are welcome to attend!

May 31, 2017 First Cultural Roundtable Meeting

Topic - Evaluating the Kawartha Lakes Cultural Sector

How many people visit our galleries, museums, cultural business,
theatres and events? Where do they come from?
What other things would they like to see or do?

Time: 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, May 31st
Location: South Pond Farm, 1020 Gray Road, Pontypool

"Evaluating the Kawartha Lakes Cultural Sector"
was selected as the first topic for discussion. This topic comes from Strategic Direction #1 from the Cultural Master Plan which recommends "gathering baseline information on the sector prior to future sector development, then proceeding with a periodic economic analysis to measure progress".

For our first meeting on the 31st, anyone who already collects visitor or customer information who would like to share their ideas is encouraged to attend, so that a standardized visitor information template can be created and utilized by all Kawartha Lakes cultural destinations. All interested persons are invited to attend.

While the Website and contact persons are finalized for this new initiative, in the interim further information can be requested from:
