Growing Forward 2 Workshops

Growing Forward 2 (GF2) is a five-year federal-provincial-territorial initiative designed to encourage innovation, competitiveness and market development in Canada's agri-food and agri-products sector through cost share funding opportunities. In Ontario, farm, food and bio-product businesses, collaborations and organizations can build their own plan and select opportunities to help grow their profits, expand their markets and manage risks. Attending a workshop will help you understand your business needs and opportunities better. Environmental Farm Plan, Growing Your Farm Profits and Biosecurity workshops are offered, as well Food Safety Webinars. These workshops are free and held across Ontario.

Environmental Farm Plan Workshops

Producers are invited to attend FREE (fourth Edition) Environmental Farm Plan  (EFP) two-day workshops to assess your farm business, learn more about best management practices, develop Action Plans and learn more about cost sharing opportunities.  We provide workshop materials and snacks.  Please bring your own lunch.

Growing Your Farm Profits - Planning for Business Success

Start the business planning process for your farm business by attending this free two-day Growing Your Farm Profits (GYFP) interactive workshop followed by a one-on-one review meeting. You will assess your business management practices, determine priorities and key goals, and develop realistic Action Plans and learn more about cost-sharing opportunities.

Traceability Workshop

This free one-day workshop will focus on how you can gain a competitive advantage and improve your bottom line with your traceability system. Real life examples and business profiles focused on traceability best practices will be examined throughout the workshop. Learn how to assess your current traceability system to identify gaps, and methods to improve your traceability system in order to gain added value through reduced costs, improved profit margins and increased market potential.

Food Safety Workshop

Looking to keep up to date on the latest food safety practices and help strengthen your Growing Forward 2 application? Join in for any or all of the food safety workshops, covering a variety of important food safety topics. All workshops are online as webinars, taken from the comfort of your home or business - all you need is an Internet and phone connection.

Beef Bio-Security Workshop

The Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association with the assistance of the City of Kawartha Lakes is offering free, one-day biosecurity workshops to help beef producers prevent or contain infectious disease on their farms.

Farm Finance Workshop

Friday, February 24, 2017 - Little Britain Community Centre

Sign-in 9:00am; Program 9:30am to 3:00pm

This one-day workshop is intended to provide farmers specific details and tools to assist with financing on the farm. Several institutions, agencies and practitioners will present on various topics and programs that are available to agribusinesses in Kawartha Lakes and the East-Central Ontario area.

Attend to find out about new and existing grants and loans, insurance and other finance programs, as well as farm tax tips, and planning for your financial health through succession plans.

  • Financing equipment, marketing, change of ownership and real estate
